What is LMK?

According to Article 1 Number 10 of Government Regulation Number 56 of 2021, a Collective Management Institution, hereinafter abbreviated as LMK, is a non-profit legal entity authorized by the creator, copyright holder, and/or owner of related rights to manage their economic rights in the form of collecting and distributing royalties.

What is a Royalty?

According to Article 1 Number 21 of Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright, a royalty is a reward for the utilization of the Economic Rights of a creation or a product of related rights received by the creator or the owner of related rights.

What is Remuneration?

Remuneration is the reward for the utilization of economic rights for public communication on a non-exclusive basis of a creation and/or a product of related rights received by the creator and/or the owner of related rights.

How to Obtain a Public Performance License?
  1. Contact the SELMI licensing department designated as the Daily Executor of the National Collective Management Institution.
  2. Fill out the License form accurately according to the category of the business owned.
  3. Send the signed and stamped License Form along with the Company Tax Identification Number (NPWP) or the Responsible Person (PIC).
  4. Data verification by the Licensing Team (if there are any discrepancies, SELMI as the Daily Executor of LMKN will confirm with the User).
  5. The verified data will then be processed for the creation of a Proforma Invoice.
  6. The Proforma Invoice will be sent to the User.
  7. The User pays the remuneration according to the amount stated on the Proforma Invoice.
  8. LMKN will issue the original Invoice along with the License Certificate and send it to the relevant user.
What is Public Performance?

Public communication, hereinafter referred to as Communication, is the transmission of a creation, performance, or phonogram via cable or other media besides broadcasting, so that it can be received by the public. This includes the provision of a creation, performance, or phonogram to be accessible to the public from a time and place of their choose.

Why do users have to pay Remuneration?

For individuals who use songs and/or music commercially in the form of public service usage, they are required to pay remuneration to the National Collective Management Institution.

What rights must users pay for?
  • Performing Rights
    The right of public communication for the use of songs and/or musics in public for commercial purposes.
  • Reproduction Rights
    Reproduction rights are the exclusive rights of the copyright owner to make reproductions or copies of the original works.
  • Mechanical Rights
    The exclusive rights granted to the record label by the copyright holder to perform mechanical duplication of musical compositions, songs, or other musical works into CDs, DVDs, recordings, or cassettes. Mechanical rights also include the rights to duplicate, reproduce, and rearrange musical works.
